They serve as a powerful learning tool for your English Language Learners.
I love to use Anchor Charts to display lessons, strategies, and vocabulary concepts in ways that are easily accessible to all students.
Having a visual aid is a great way to introduce vocabulary to improve your students understanding of the English Language.
I use Anchor Charts to introduce each lesson. The charts summarize and highlight key concepts, strategies, and processes discussed during lessons.
After each lesson, I have my students cut and paste each Anchor Chart into their Reading Notebooks.
I love using a Reading Notebook because my students can look back to the chart to remember the skill that I previously taught.

Follow the steps below to successfully use Anchor Charts in your classroom!
1. Display Anchor Charts Strategically
After using an Anchor Chart in a lesson... hang it somewhere so students can easily see it. You don’t want to hide the Anchor Chart in a dark corner of the classroom. Students need to refer back to the charts often, so they should be easy to spot and use.
2. Refer Back to the Charts Often
Regularly direct students’ attention back to relevant Anchor Charts during lessons or when they have questions. This reinforces the use of charts as an effective learning tool.
3. Encourage Interactive Learning
After each student has added the Anchor Chart to their Reading Notebook.... I use the chart interactively (students write notes on the side). Students can also use sticky notes for comments, questions, or as a reference during group activities.
4. Use the Charts to Review and Reflect
As a class, periodically review Anchor Charts to assess understanding. This can also help identify areas that may need further review or instruction.
I have spent hours and hours creating Anchor Charts for classroom use each year.
All of the Anchor Charts that I have created are in English... with a duplicate copy in Spanish.
I have created them for different ages and subjects (Reading, Writing, Math, and Science).
